Report for Canyon Lake & Lake LBJ, Texas

Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 70 degrees; 910.25' :

Largemouth are very good along flats and in creeks using a wtrmelon Snap Back jerkbaits(www.terminatorlures.com), Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), pumk/red/grn Senkos (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and pitching a grn/pump. Terminator Finesse Jig to shallow stumps on creek flats. Upriver, bass are very good early over flats on channel turns throwing 1/8 oz. whit/char. Tiny-T buzzbaits and small propped topwaters like a Rat-L-Top. Later, pitching a 4" shad colored Super Tube Heavy or Whacky rigged pump/grn. 6" Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) to laydowns and stumps in 4'-8' of water.

Smallmouth are good to 4 lbs. over rockpiles and along ledges in 6'-18' using drop shot rigged Smokin' Green Devil's Tongue, (www.cremelure.com) pitching a 3/16 oz. grn./pump. Terminator Finesse Jig with a # 23 Uncle Josh pork trailer (www.unclejosh.com), pump/char. Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com)on split shot rigs or a 3" crawfish Super Tube.

Stripers are fair on Hyper Striper Jigs (www.kgenterprise.com), white/char. Curb's jigs w/matching plastic trailers and drifting live bait.

White Bass are good in the upper lake on points and channel turns using # 3 Snag-Less In-Line spinners (www.terrminatorlures.com), 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies, and Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) or a Berkley Frenzy.

Crappie are good upriver over brushpiles and tight to standing timber on 1/16 oz. Tube Jigs, white 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows. (www.canyonlakefishing.com)

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 70 degrees; 1018.91' :

Largemouth are good early on 3'-6' stumpfields using Snap Back plastic jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), 1/2 oz. chrome/blue Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-L-trap.com) wtrmelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) on Whacky rigs on docks. Bass are beginning to move along ledges in creeks, so pitching 3/16 oz. pump. Terminator Finesse Jig with a #23 Uncle Josh Pork (www.unclejosh.com) trailer or dragging a pump/char. claw Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) on a split shot rig will produce.

Stripers are fair to 22" inches in 20' of water around Flag Island trolling white/chartreuse Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) and # 7 Shad Raps.

White Bass are good inside of creek points and flats at Mud Island 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps, Lit'l Fishies and white bucktails with grubs.

LAKE LBJ: Water cloudy; 70 degrees; 824.80' :

Black Bass are good along breaklines and creek points with stumps and laydowns in 4'-10' on (weighted) wtrmelon Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com) jerkbaits and a 4" Bluegill Super Tube Heavy www.cremelure.com). A Blue/char/wht 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, split shot rigged wtrmelon/red Devil's Tongues and wtrmelon/red Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) are producing bass to 4 lbs. from rip rap and the back of docks during the day.

Stripers are fair at Wirtz Dam in 40' of water using chart. Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) and live perch.

White Bass are good running 8'-20+' deep along channel breaklines on 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), snagless Terminator In-Line spinners and trolling # 5 Shad Raps.

Crappie are good along trees and brushpiles in 3'-10' on 1/32 oz. silver/white Solid Tubes, 1/16 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.
