Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 69 degrees; 910.55' :

Largemouth are very good along edges of buckbrush in pockets and creeks and over flats and points using Snap Back lizards or soft Snap Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), Whacky rigged

chameleon Scoundrel worms and white 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits. Upriver, a pumpkin/char. Senko (www.canyonlakefishing.com), pitching a 4" crawfish Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) and swimming

a black Uncle Josh "Porker" (www.unclejosh.com) along flats in 2'-5' are all producing very good fish.

Smallmouth are good along ledges in 5'-18' feet using crawfish 3" Super Tubes, watermelon/red Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish and rootbeer Yamamoto grubs on 1/8 oz. jigheads.

Stripers are slow drifting live perch and vertically jigging white/chart. Hyper Striper jigs with plastic trailers.

White Bass are fair to good on points and channel turns in the upper lake on Lit'l Fishies, Berkley Frenzy and Terminator Snag-Less spinners.

Crappie are very good over brushpiles in 5'-12' on 1/16 oz. Tube Jigs, Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

LAKE LBJ: Water clearing; 67 degrees; 824.84' :

Black Bass are good in 4'-10' on 1/4 oz. oz. white/char/blue Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), white or pink Snap Back jerkbaits and watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) on Whacky rigs. Dragging a pumpkin/char. claw Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) down points and the back of docks has been producing both quality and numbers of bass.

Stripers N/A

White Bass are good in 8'-20' deep along channel turns and points on 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps, snagless Terminator In-Line spinners and trolling #5 Shad Raps.

Crappie are very good in 3'-6' on 1/32 oz. silver Solid Tubes, 1/16 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.
