Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 72 degrees; 910.80' :

Largemouth are very good to 6 pounds in 4-10 feet of water on a blue gill Super Tube Heavy, hite/blue/char. 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits and carolina rigged white Snap Back jerkbaits.

Smallmouth are good along ledges in 6-20 feet using pumpkin drop shot Devil's Tongues, watermelon/red Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish and rootbeer Yamamoto grubs on 1/8 oz. jigheads.

Stripers are slow on live perch and vertically jigging white/chartreuse Hyper Striper jigs with plastic trailers.

White Bass are fair to good on points and channel turns in the upper lake on Lit'l Fishies, Berkley Frenzy and Terminator Snag-Less spinners.

Crappie are very good over brushpiles in 4-8 feet on 1/16 oz. Tube Jigs, Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

LAKE LBJ: Water clearing; 71 degrees; 824.55' :

Black Bass are good over flats early on watermelon Snap Back tubes, watermelon/red Scoundrel worms on Whacky rigs and 1/8 oz. white Tiny-T buzzbaits.

White Bass are fair in 20' deep along channel breaklines on 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps, snagless Terminator In-Line spinners and trolling #5 Shad Raps.

Crappie are good over brushpiles on 1/32 oz. silver Solid Tubes, 1/16 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows. LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 70 degrees; 1018.70' :

Largemouth are good in 5'-12' of water on white/char. Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), plum Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) and Senkos (www.yamamoto.baits.com). Crankbaits are producing inside of secondary creek points as are green/pumpkin Terminator Finesse Jigs with a Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) trailer along docks and laydowns.

Stripers are good in 28' of water at Garrett Islands trolling white/chart. Hyper Striper jigs and drifting live bait.

White Bass are good on creek points using 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps, 1/4 oz. Curb's white bucktails and white grubs.
