Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 80 degrees; 910.85' :

Largemouth are good in numbers the first couple of hours of daylight in buckbrush in 3'-6' of water on 1/4 oz. chrome/blue Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-Traps.com), white Snap Back jerkbaits and Chameleon Scoundrel worms. Upriver, working a pumpkin 7X Senko (www.canyonlakefishing.com), 1/8 oz. white/chart Tiny-T (www.terminatorlures.com) spinnerbait and pitching a 4" watermelon Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) along steep breaklines will produce. [For repairs, or to hold soft plastics-grubs,tubes, plastic jerkbaits, etc.- in place on your hook, try a drop of Pro's Soft~Bait Glue www.prosoftbaitglue.com). You'll be as amazed as we were. This stuff works!]

Smallmouth are fair along ledges in 8'-20' using pumpkin drop shot Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com), grn/pump. Terminator Finesse jigs with Uncle Josh and grn./pump Yamamoto (www.canyonlakefishing.com) grubs. A pumpkin/char. claw Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) worked down ledges from midlake to the dam can be very productive on big smallies.

Stripers are slow on drifting live perch and trolling white/chart Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) with plastic trailers on main lake points in 60'. White Bass are good on lake points very early on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, Thread Fin Berkley (www.purefishing.com) Frenzy Rattlin' Pro and Terminator Snag-Less spinners.

Crappie are good over brushpiles in 16'-20' on 1/16 oz. Tube Jigs, Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows. LAKE LBJ: Water clearing; 79 degrees; 824.80' :

Black Bass are good the firsty couple of hours of daylight along rip rap on seawalls early on watermelon Snap Back plastic jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), Silver Shiner Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) and pitching a watermelon 4" Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) working a 3/8 oz. Silver Shad Terminator through stump fields in 4'- feet.

White Bass are only fair in 20' deep trolling trolling Tiny Traps, #5 Shad Rap and Snagless Terminator In-Line spinners.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 76 degrees; 1018.28' :

Largemouth are fair to good early in 6'-15' of water along bluffs using a wtrmelon/red Scoundrel worm on Whacky rigs (www.cremelure.com), a 3/16 oz. pumpkin Terminator Finesse Jig (www.terminatorlures.com) with a #101 Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) Pork trailer and weighted Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com) jerkbaits and deadsticking Senkos worked. [To repair and/or hold any soft plastics like Senkos,tubes and ordinary plastic jerkbaits one drop of Pro's Soft~Bait Glue (www.prosoftbaitglue.com) does the job!] There is a good early morning shallow water bite around brush- piles and laydowns on Rat-L-Tops and white Tiny-T buzzbaits along docks before the sun hits the water

Stripers are fair in 24'-30' of water below Flag Island trolling white Hyper Striper jigs and drifting live bait. Topwater action on Zara Spooks and 1/2 oz. Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com)the first hour of daylight along shallow rock points.
