Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 81 degrees; 909.90' :

Largemouth are good at daylight along breaklines in 5'-15' on Snap Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), 1/4 oz. white Terminator spinnerbaits and 6" watermelon Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com). Upriver, watermelon Snap Back creature baits, pumpkin/green Senkos (www.canyonlakefishing.com), and Texas rigged pumpkin/char. 4 inch Disc Worms worked along trees in 6'-10' are good bets.

Smallmouth are good in 8'-20' using crawfish 3" Super Tube, Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) Drop Shot worms and Devil's Tongues.

Stripers are improving on deep main lake points burning a chrome Rat-L-Trap through surfacing shad or jigging white/chart. Hyper Striper jigs with plastic trailers and drifting live perch.

White Bass are fair on lake points very early on 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies, threadfin Berkley Frenzy and Terminator Snag-Less spinners.

Crappie are fair upriver tight to timber in 20' on minnows, white Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows. LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 79 degrees; 1017.47' :

Largemouth are fair 5'-12' of water along sloping secondary creek points with stumps and laydowns on topwater lures early, chrome Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), white Tiny-T buzzbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and pitching a watermelon Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) to docks.

Stripers are fair in 32' of water trolling white/char. Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) and drifting live bait near the dam. Topwater action at daylight along rocky points.

White Bass are fair along sloping creekpoints in 20' of water vertically jigging 1/4 oz. silver or blue Pirk Minnows or burning a gray back 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and Tiny Traps through feeding schools.
