Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 87 degrees; 908.70':

As the nights grow longer and the days get cooler with every frontal passage, bass fishing will continue to improve as surface water temperatures decline below 80 degrees.

Largemouth are good at first light on lake points using 1/8 oz. white Tiny-T buzzbaits(www.canyonlakefishing.com), 1/4 oz. clear/blue back Chug Bugs and pitching a watermelon/red Bush Pig* to standing timber and submerged laydowns along underwater

points. Our best largemouth and Guadalupe Bass are coming on white Whacky Sticks(www.cremelure.com) and pitching a junebug Craw Tube* (www.canyonlakefishing.com) to brushpiles and

submerged timber in 10'-25' along bluffs upriver.

Smallmouth are fair to good very early in 12'-25' on 3" watermelon Cut Tail worms, drop shot rigged pumpkin Devil's Tongue and Uncle Josh Drop Shot worms(www.unclejosh.com).

Stripers are slow tight-lining live perch in 70' and trolling Hyper Striper jigs(www.kgenterprise.com) with trailers on downriggers along the dam.

White Bass are slow vertically jigging Pirk Minnows through schools in 40' or trolling #5 or #7 Shad Raps along the dam.

Crappie are fair at first light tight to standing timber or brush on minnows upriver.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 85 degrees; 824.66'

Largemouth are fair at first light along rip rap on seawalls where you see shad working. Most productive lures are watermelon/red Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com)Cyberflexx jerkbaits, a 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and Tiny Traps

(www.rat-l-trap.com). As the morning progresses follow bass to deeper structure such as laydowns and brushpiles w/ a 5" Whacky Stick* (www.cremelure.com). During the heat of the day, a Texas rigged 4" watermelon Disc Worm or "Whacky" rigged Ice Tea Scoundrel worm using a fished slowly through under docks will produce.

White Bass are very good at night on 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies on light jigheads.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 86 degrees; 1013.40':

Largemouth are improving with a longer early morning bite along bluffs and boat docks in the deeper creeks white 7/16 oz. Tungsten spinnerbait (www.terminatorlures.com), 1/4 oz.

Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) and [one of the new] white Whacky Sticks*(www.cremelure.com). As the sun gets higher, bass move out to deeper structure, suspending around over stumps or laydowns. Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) makes a great drop shot worm that, along with Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) can extend the bite on into the

day even after the sun is up on the water.

Stripers are fair in 40' tight-lining live bait and trolling 1/2 oz. Hyper Striper jigs(www.kgentrerprise.com) along dam.

Limited topwater action early near the lighthouse.
