Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water gin clear; 75 degrees; 908.27':

Largemouth good in numbers to 3 lbs. early along treelines and stumps above breakline in 3'-12' on 7/16 oz. white Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), Berkley Frenzy Pros and pitching a wtrmelon/pepper Craw Tube

(www.cremelure.com) along gravel and chunk rock banklines.

Upriver, bass up to 5 lbs. are good along bluffs on ledges 10'-16' deep on Texas rigged pumpkin/green fleck Snap Back 7" worms & smoke/red Snap Back Tubes (both-www.canyonlakefishing.com)

Smallmouth are good to 2 lbs. in 8'-12' swimming Yamamoto rootbeer grubs (www.canyonlakefishing.com), 4" grn. pumpkin Whacky Sticks(www.cremelure.com), 2" smokin' green Devil's Tongues and pumpkin Sliding Weight Craw Baby on split shot rigs.

Stripers are good to 24" early and all morning under cloud cover on the surface using Pirk Minnows, 3" plastic swim baits and burning white/chart Hyper Striper jigs(www.kgenterprise.com) w/plastic trailers through schooling fish.

White Bass are slow to fair on main-lake points using Pirk Minnows, 2" Spoiler Shads and Tiny Traps.

Crappie are fair to good tight to standing timber and brushpiles in 10' on live minnows, 2" shad/clear grubs and white Curb's crappie jigs.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 76 degrees; 1014.11':

Largemouth are fair to good early and late in larger feeder creeks using 1/4 oz. threadfin/blue Rat-L-Traps

(www.rat-l-traps.com), white tungsten spinnerbaits

(www.terminatorlures.com) and watermelon/red Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com). If you catch a day with blue bird skies try working deeper creek points using a 2" pumpkin Craw Baby (www.slidingweight.com) on a split shot rig in or Carolina rigging a green pumpkin Snap Back Creature Bait.

Stripers are good to 24" drifting live bait and bottom trolling 1/2 oz. white Hyper Striper jigs(www.kgenterprise.com) w/plastic trailers above Flag Island. Top water activity good on 4" plastic

swim baits and 1/2 oz. Spin Traps.

White Bass are improving vertically jigging Pirk Minnows, 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps through sub-surface schools.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 76 degrees; 824.45':

Largemouth are good early on stumpfields and laydowns in 3'-6' fishing tight to wood with white/char. 7/16 oz. Terminator (www.terminatorlures.com) tungsten spinnerbaits, wtrmelon/chart. Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com) and wtrmelon/red Whacky Sticks worked along the edge of weed beds on breaklines. Also, if the sun gets high and bright, an Ice Tea Scoundrel worm on Whacky rigs using a "K" Whacky

Hook from (www.falconlures.com) is perfect for working boat docks and deeper rip rap on seawalls.

White Bass are good on Tiny Traps, 2" Spoiler Shads and 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows.

Crappie are fair to good over 15' brushpiles on live minnows,2" shad/clear curl tail grubs and 1/16 oz. Curb's crappie jigs.
