Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water gin clear; 74.6 degrees; 908.16'

Largemouth good to 5 lbs in 8'-15' on mainlake and

secondary creek points with timber & brushpiles using a watermelon/red Whacky Stick(www.cremelure.com), Snap

Back smoke/red Pitchin' Tubes(www.terminatorlures.com)

and 6" Ice Tea Scoundrel worms rigged Whacky style on a "K" series hook by Falcon Lures(www.falconlures.com)

Smallmouth are good to 2 lbs. early along 8'-20' breaklines on 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps, rootbeer/green Yamamoto Hula Grubs (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and Sliding Weight Craw Baby (www.slidingweight.com) on split shot rigs. Drop shotting a pumpkin Devil's Tongue with the tail dipped chartreuse in 20' will produce if/when the shallower bite slows.

Stripers are very good at daylight on the surface under birds using 4" medium diving Frenzy Minnow (www.berkley.com)blue glimmer Snap Back jerkbait(www.canyonlakefishing.com) on a heavy jighead and burning a white/chart. Hyper Striper

(www.kgenterprise.com) jig through schools under birds.

White Bass are slow vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows,Tiny Traps and Spoiler Shads.

Crappie are fair tight to standing timber in 8-12 feet on minnows, a 2" shad Swirltail grub or 1/32 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 75 degrees; 824.65' :

Largemouth are good in 3'-10' along creek points and along rip rap on 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), 1/4 oz. white/chart. Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and watermelon/red Bush Pigs (www.cremelure.com). A grape

6" Scoundrel worm rigged Whacky style on a 2/0 or 3/0 "K" Whacky hook by Falcon Lures (www.falconlures.com) is producing numbers of fish from docks on blue bird clear days.

White Bass are good early along channel breaklines on Spoiler Shads, Terminator In-Line spinners and # 5 Shad Raps.

Crappie are fair to good over brushpiles in 14' of water on live minnows, shad/clear curl tail grubs and white Curb's crappie jigs.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 75 degrees; 1016.15'

Largemouth are good early and late along points with stumps or laydowns in 4' to 8' of water using a white/chart small profile 7/17 oz. (www.terminatorlures.com) tungsten

spinnerbait, 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps(www.rat-l-trap.com) and pitching a watermelon Craw Tube (www.cremelure.com).

Stripers are good to 28" inches tight-lining live bait, trolling 1/2 oz. Hyper Striper jigs(www.kgenterprise.com) with trailers and working schools on the surface with topwaters and Pirk

Minnows.

White Bass are fair on lake points on Pirk Minnows, Spoiler Shads and Tiny Traps.
