Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water gin clear; 71 degrees; 908.95' :

Largemouth are good to 8 lbs early along 8'-20' breaklines on mainlake and secondary creek points with standing timber using 7/16 oz. white tungsten spinnerbait (www.terminatorlures.com),

Ice Tea Scoundrel worms on wacky rigs using a "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com), 4" pumpkin/char. curl tail worms and shad-type crankbaits are producing along ledges with wood and submerged rockpiles in 8'-12'. Upriver, 1/8 oz. Tiny-T buzzbaits and chuggars will produce early, then switch to a blue fleck Power

Worms or Snap Back creature baits www.canyonlakefishing.com) to timber and stickups along breaklines on channel turns.

Smallmouth are very good to 4 lbs over submerged rock piles in 8'-12' on watermelon/red Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com), pumpkin Craw Baby w/char. claws (www.slidingweight.com) and watermelon Craw Tubes. Rootbeer Hula Grubs on 1/8 oz. jigheads and crawfish crankbaits are good along the dam early.

Stripers are good at daylight on the surface using blue glimmer Snap Back jerkbaits, chrome/blue Red Fins, burning a white/gray Hyper Striper jig w/trailer (www.kgenterprise.com) or plastic swimbaits through schools.

White Bass fair at daylight on mainlake points on Spoiler Shads,Tiny Traps and Pirk Minnows.

Crappie are good tight to timber in 6'-14' on live minnows,2" silver Swirltails and white Curb's crappie jigs.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 73 degrees; 824.92' :

Largemouth are fair to good in 4'-8' along seawall rip rap on watermelon/red Craw Tubes(www.cremelure.com); 7/16 oz. white/chart Terminator tungsten(www.terminatorlures.com) Spinnerbaits and shallow running crankbaits. Action is good shallow early on creek points and stump flats using 1/4 oz.

Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) and Pop R's.

White Bass are fair early along channel breakliness trolling Shad Raps, 2" Spoiler Shads and 3" white curl tail grubs.

Crappie are fair to good over brushpiles on live minnows and silver Swirltails.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 73 degrees; 1016.81' :

Largemouth are good along ledges in 5'-12' using 1/4 oz. silver shad Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com), and a 3/8 oz. Pro's Secret blk/purple jig (www.terminatorlures.com) w/Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) trailer. Watermelon/red 6" Scoundrel worms on wacky rigs using a 2/0 "K" Wacky

Hook (www.falconlures.com) will produce in the same

areas as the day progresses and bass begin to suspend.

Stripers are good in 28' of water tight-lining live bait and trolling Hyper Striper jigs(www.kgenterprise.com). Early topwater action on Red Fins and white Snap Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) on jigheads.

White Bass slow along mainlake points on Pirk Minnows.
