Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water gin clear; 68-70 degrees; 908.83' :

Largemouth are very good in 3'-12' feet using a white 7/16 oz. tungsten spinnerbait(www.terminatorlures.com),

threadfin Frenzy Poppers(www.canyonlakefishing.com) and 1/4 oz. Bleeding Shiner Rat-L-Traps(www.rat-l-trap.com). Watermelon/red 4" Scoundrel worms(www.cremelure.com) on 1/16 oz. jigheads will produce over rockpiles along deep water bluffs if the bite slows down under high, clear skies. Upriver, both smoke/red flake Snap Back 3X pitching tubes and 7" blue fleck Power Worms are good on channel dropoffs.

Smallmouth are good to 3-1/2 lbs. over rockpiles in 8'-20' on pumpkin Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs, watermelon Whacky Sticks (www.canyonlakefishing.com) w/char. dipped tails, rootbeer Hula Grubs on 1/16 or 1/8 oz. jigheads and watermelon Craw Baby's (www.slidingweight.com) w/char. claws.

Stripers are very good on the surface early on blue glimmer Snap Back jerkbaits(www.terminatorlures.com), Frenzy Walkers and Red Fins.

White Bass are fair at daylight along 20' points vertically jigging Pirk Minnows, Tiny Traps(www.rat-l-trap.com) and Spoiler Shads.

Crappie are good tight to timber in 8'-14' on live minnows, Swirltails and Curb's crappie jigs.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 68 degrees; 1016.80' :

Largemouth are good along creek and secondary points in

4'-10' using 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps(www.rat-l-trap.com), 1/4 oz. white Terminator buzzbaits, 7/16 oz. white/char. Terminator's new tungsten spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and Fat Free Shad

crankbaits. Working watermelon Scoundrel worms rigged

wacky style on a "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com)

and watermelon/red Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com)

under docks and along laydowns in feeder creeks is

accounting for some quality fish in the 2-5 lb. class.

Stripers are good around Shaw Island in 30' tight-lining live bait & trolling white/char. Hyper Striper jigs w/trailers (www.kgenterprise.com). Top water action good on white Snap Back 3X jerkbaits on 1/2 oz. jigheads and Red Fins.

White Bass fair on mainlake creek points in 20'

vertically jigging silver Pirk Minnows, Tiny Traps and Spoiler Shads.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 68 degrees; 825'

Largemouth are good to 5 lbs. along seawall rip rap on

lake points using a white/char. 1/4 oz. Terminator

spinnerbait, watermelon Craw Tube (www.cremelure.com)

and watermelon/red Whacky Sticks. Good early bite on

creek points close to stump flats on watermelon Snap Back 3X jerkbaits(www.terminatorlures.com), 1/8 oz. Tiny T buzzbaits and chrome/blue back Rat-L-Traps(www.rat-l-traps.com).

Stripers fair to good in the shoals below Inks Dam on Frenzy Walkers, pink Snap Back 3X jerkbaits on jigheads and 1/2 oz.chrome 'Traps.

White Bass are good along channel breaklines early trolling Shad Raps, Pearl Spoiler Shads and Tiny Traps.

Crappie are fair to good over brushpiles in 12'-15' on live minnows, shad Swirltail grubs and white Curb's crappie jigs.
