Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 94 degrees; 909' :
Largemouth are very good to 5 lbs. 2'-8' deep in creeks on white/char. Terminator buzzbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), Yellow Magic
topwaters (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and watermelon/red Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com). Green pumpkin Whacky stick w/chartreuse tail, watermelon Big Pigs (www.cremelure.com)
& smoke/red flake Snap Back www.terminatorlures.com) pitchin' tubes are all good choices for big fish in tight to standing or horizontal timber in 5'-12' of water. Upriver, blue fleck Snap Back 7" worms and Creature Baits worked slowly in 8'-14' along bluffs and creek points are good.
Smallmouth are good over rock piles and submerged rocky points in 5'-12' using bright chartreuse 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits & crawfish 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com). If motion baits fail to produce, try sliding a 2" pumpkin Sliding Weight (www.slidingweight.com) Finesse Crawfish with chartreuse claws on a split shot rig across the bottom or swimming a 3/16 oz. pumpkin Terminator Finesse Jig w/ matching #11 Uncle Josh pork trailer (www.unclejosh.com) over the same structure.
Stripers are fair to good in lower end of lake on the surface using pink Snap Back jerkbaits (www.canyonlakefishing.com), chrome Slap Stiks (www.rat-l-trap.com) and burning a white Hyper Striper jig (www.kgenterprise.com) just below the surface in schooling action.
White Bass fair early along main-lake points on Spoiler Shads, Tiny Traps and Shad Raps.
**Expect to see substantial improvement in Striper and White Bass activity in the late December - early January time frame from mid-lake to the upper end where they will be staging for the spawning run in
early March. Until then, watch they surface for indications of feeding activity - or follow the brids.**
Crappie are fair tight to standing timber in 12' of water using
live minnows and Swirltail grubs on 1/16 oz. jigheads.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 64 degrees; 1016.75' :
Largemouth are good in 3'-8' using white Terminator
buzzbaits(www.terminatorlurescom.), a clear Rat-L-Top
(www.rat-l-trap.com) topwater or Frenzy threadfin
poppers (www.berkley-fishing.com) and crawfish Whacky
Sticks (www.cremelure.com) in feeder creek arms of larger
creeks and around Mud Island. Also, try slow-rolling a 1 oz. silver shad Terminator "Heavy T" spinnerbait or running a Fat Free Shad "fingerling" along bluffs and down sloping points.
Stripers are good trolling 1/2 oz. Hyper Striper jigs
(www.kgenterprise.com), tight-lining live bait and using
chrome/blue Slap Stiks (www.rat-l-trap.com) in surface action under the birds.
White Bass are fair along sloping creek points on Pirk Minnows and Spoiler Shads (www.cremelure.com).

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 64 degrees; 824.85' :
Largemouth are good to 7 lbs. along rip rap 3'-8' deep using
"Christmas Tree" Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com), Snap Back (www.terminatorlure.com) Creature Baits. shallow running crankbaits. White/chartreuse 7/16 oz. tungsten series spinnerbaits and Silver Shiner Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) are producing some of the best bass consistently in the 2'-6' stump flats.
Stripers are good under birds on Pirk Minnows, threadfin Slap Stiks. If the shallow water surface action dies, move out to the and trolling a Hyper Striper jig (www.kgenterprise.com) or drift live bait along the 20' breakline jig close to where you see baitfish on your LCR.
White Bass fair to good using Tiny Traps, Spoiler Shads and Shad Raps.
Crappie are fair on bridge pilings and over brushpiles in 15 feet on minnows and Swirltail grubs.
