Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 50 degrees; 908.87' :

Largemouth are fair to 6 lbs. along bluffs upriver in 10'-16' pitching red shad Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com), blue flake Snap Back

creature baits (www.terminatorlures.com) & Gulp Worms (www.gulp.com)

Smallmouth are fair along main lake points on chartreuse 7/16 oz.Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits, smokin' green Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs and brown/black hair jigs (www.canyonlakefishing.com)

Stripers are fair at mid-lake burning Hyper Striper (www.kgenterprise.com) jigs off the bottom, casting bleeding shiner Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com)

and blue glimmer Snap Back jerkbaits to surfacing fish in 30'-50'.

White Bass are fair but small in 30' on silver Pirk Minnows and Lit'l Fishies

Guadalupe Tailrace Rainbows are very good averaging 8"-14" using red or pink Berkley power bait (www.canyonlakefishing.com), maggots, Terminator In-Line spinners and artifical flys. All trout tackle available at Fisherman's Corner.

Few fishermen out.

Black Bass are slow to fair in 12'-25' along points and bluffs using pumpkin Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on drop shot rigs, Carolina rigged watermelon/red Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com)

creature baits & blk/blue 1/4 oz. Terminator jigs w/a matching Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) pork trialer worked down ledges.

Stripers are fair from Paradise to the Willows trolling gray/white Hyper Striper (www.kgenterprise.com) jigs and tight-lining live bait.

White Bass fair but small in 25' at the mouth of creeks jigging Lit'l Fishies, Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) & silver Pirk Minnows.

White Bass are slow on sloping points around the power plant.

Crappie are fair in 15'-25' on minnows and Curb's crappie jigs.
