Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 51 degrees; 909':

Largemouth are fair to good in 15'-25' along vertical bluffs and transitional bluff to rock areas on Carolina rigged Snap Back lizards (www.canyonlakefishing.com) suspending clown or firetiger jerkbaits and Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on drop shot rigs. Jigging Pirk Minnows along vertical bluffs has been producing bass in the 2-4 lb. class.

Smallmouth are good over rockpiles in 6'-20' on Texas rigged chartreuse Craw Tubes, a pumpkin Sliding Weight Craw Baby (www.slidingweight.com), chart. 7/16 oz. tungsten spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com). When the fish are up shallow a No. 46 (crawfish) Tiny Trap (www.rat-l-trap.com) and the small profile tungsten spinnerbaits are top producers.

Stripers are good to 30" in 50' on main lake points burning white/blue or watermelon Hyper Striper jigs with trailers, Albino Snap Back jerkbaits and plastic swim baits.

White Bass are very good in 30' vertically jigging 1/4 oz. chartreuse or silver Pirk Minnows, Spoiler Shads (www.cremelure.com) and Tiny Traps.

Crappie are fair on minnows in 50'+ out in open water.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 50 degrees; 824.94':

Black Bass are fair to 5 lbs. over brushpiles in 10'-15' slow-rolling a Texas Red Terminator (www.terminatorlures.com) spinnerbait, pitching Texas rigged crawdad Craw Tubes and watermelon/red Bush Pigs (www.cremelure.com). Try crankbaiting open water rockpiles in the lower end of the lake where some good

fish are holding w/a Berkley diver or a crawfish Rat-L-Trap (www.rat-l-trap.com) along rip rap when you catch a few days of stable weather takes better bass.

White Bass are fair with males staging over sand bars in the main lake at the mouth of the Llano, Colorado and Sandy Creek. Jigging Pirk Minnows, Spoiler Shads and casting/trolling Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) or Shad Raps will produce.

Crappie slow in 20' of water on live minnows and crappie jigs.
