Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 57 degrees; 909':

Largemouth are very good in 4'-8' of water using pump/chart Snap Back lizards www.canyonlakefishing.com) on Texas rigs, Rat-L-Traps

(www.rat-l-trap.com) & pumpkin/chart. Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com)rigged wacky style on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com). Upriver, the water is a bit off-color due to recent rains but spawners

are still on shallow flats on the inside of channel turns where Gulp Worms, Rat-L-Traps and white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits work best.

Smallmouth are very good on chart. 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits (www.canyonlakefishing.com), a Sliding Weight Crawfish Jr.(www.slidingweight.com) and rootbeer/red Hula Grubs (www.canyonlakefishing.com)

White Bass very good on Spoiler Shads, white grubs, Tiny Traps and #3 white Terminator In-Line spinners.

Crappie are improving in 12'-20' on live minnows, red/blue/chart.Mini-Tails and white Curb's crappie jigs.

Guadalupe Tailrace & Blanco River rainbow trout: Very good. Catches of limits reported taken using 1/16 oz. In-Line spinners, red or pink Berkley trout bait or eggs and some fly patterns.

LAKE LBJ: Water lightly stained; 56 degrees; 824.98':

Largemouth are good in 2'-8' of water on flats using pumpkin/chart Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com), watermelon/red Craw Tubes

(www.cremelure.com) and crawfish Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com). Try to target brushpiles close to breaklines of spawning areas with a pump/chart.

1/4 oz. Terminator rattlin' jig and Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) pork trailer or 7" blue fleck Berkley Power Worms. Texas Red or white/chartreuse

Terminator spinnerbaits and blue fleck plastic stick baits like a Whacky Stick (www.cremelure.com) worked through stump flats and long creek points are

good right now. Yellow or cotton candy Scoundrel worms rigged on a "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com) and skipped under walkways of docks produce well over stump flats and long creek points.

White Bass are good up the rivers on clear/blue Spoiler Shads, Tiny Traps and Terminator In-Line Spinners.

Crappie are fair over brushpiles in 20' on red/green/chartreuse Mini-Tails,white 1/16 oz. Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 55 degrees; 1015.68'

Black Bass are to 4.5 lbs. are good in 4'-10' of water in creeks and pockets over rockpiles & ledges on crawfish Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), 7/16 oz. tungsten spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com)& crawfish Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com). Lots of big pre-spawn females are staged along initial breaklines [8'-20' deep] w/ wood on them where a

1/4 oz. pump/char. Terminator jig w/a Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) pork trailer, a 3" watermelon/red Sliding Weight (www.slidingweight.com) Craw Fish, Jr. will get to them.

Stripers are very good around Garrett and Shaw Islands trolling 1/2 oz. white/blue Hyper Striper (www.kgenterprise.com) jigs with trailers and tight-lining live bait.

White Bass are good from Paradise Point to the river vertically jigging silver or blue 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, Tiny Traps and Spoiler Shads under birds.
