Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 74 degrees; 909.78':

Largemouth are good to 6 lbs in 6'-15' on breaklines of mainlake points using Texas rigged watermelon/red Snap Back creature baits (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and watermelon/red Brush Hogs ; 5" pumpkin

ring worms w/chartreuse tails & grn-pump Senkos (www.canyonlakefishing.com) &/or Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) . Upriver, 1/4 oz. white/chart. Terminator buzzbait (www.terminatorlures.com) and topwaters are all productive early, while 1/4 oz. black/blue jigs w/#23 Uncle Josh(www.unclejosh.com) or Devil's Tongue for a trailer & wacky rigged grape Scoundrel worms on a "K" Wacky Hook (www.canyonlakefishing.com) fished near stumps, trees and bushes along channel breaklines are good all day.

Smallmouth are good in 4'-20' on 4" pumpkin Whacky Sticks, rootbeer green flake Hula Grubs (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and pumpkin Craw Fish, Jr.

(www.slidingweight.com) worked down ledges all the way to rock piles on the bottom.

Stripers are poor to slow.

White Bass are good at night on Road Runners and minnows under green lights.

Crappie are good in 5'-12' tight to trees and brushpiles on Curb's crappie jigs, Swirltail grubs and live minnows.

Channel Catfish are good in Fisherman's Corner (www.canyonlakefishing.com).

LAKE LBJ: Water cloudy; 73 degrees; 824.85':

Largemouth are good all day under clouds on wht/chart. Terminator buzzbaits, topwaters like a Pop R, watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com)

on wacky rigs and watermelon/red Snap Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com). Crankbaits like a Rat-L-Trap (www.rat-l-trap.com)Wiggle Wart or Fat Free Shad, Jr. will produce along the seawall rip rap in 6'-10' as will a watermelon/red Devil's Tongue on a split shot rig.

White Bass are fair at first light along sand bars on Spoiler Shads, Tiny Traps and clear Rat-L-Top (www.rat-l-trap.com) topwaters.

Crappie are fair to good in brushpiles in 14' using blue/chartreuse Swirltail (www.cremelure.com) grubs, chartreuse 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs & live

minnows.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 71 degrees; 1018':

Largemouth are good early along points of secondary feeder creeks in 4'-10' of water using watermelon/red Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com) jerkbaits,

white Terminator buzzbaits and 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com). Once the sun is on the water target submerged laydowns, stumps and brush along

8'-15' breaklines pitching green-pumpkin Craw Worms (www.cremelure.com), pumpkin Scoundrel worm rigged wacky style on a "K" Wacky Hook by Falcon Lure Co (www.falconlures.com) or 3/16 oz. green pumpkin finesse jigs w/a matching #23 Uncle Josh pork trailer (www.unclejosh.com) under and along boat docks w/deep water.

Stripers are fair in 25'-30' from Flag Island to the dam bottom trolling a white Hyper Striper jig with chartreuse trailer (www.kgenterprise.com), vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and tight-lining live bait. Early morning topwater action on main lake points with

Rat-L-Traps and blue glimmer Snap Back jerkbaits.

White Bass are fair early under birds on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com).
