Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 83 degrees; 914.66': (Dam release is 4,700+cfs. This release rate will restore the lake level to normal elevation of 909' within

a week or less.)

Largemouth are fair to good at first light along flooded green bushes on 7/16 oz. white Terminator spinnerbaits(www.terminatorlures.com), green pumpkin Senkos (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and Baby Brush Hogs. Carolina rigged watermelon/red Snap Back creature baits are very good along open water ledges in 12'-25', and those with brushpiles are even better. UPRIVER, Largemouth and Guadalupe Bass are good

early over flats along channel turns on white 1/8 oz. Terminator buzzbaits & Yellow Magic topwaters. As the sun gets higher, fish are positioning along roots of trees where pitching wacky rigged 4" Scoundrel worms(www.cremelure.com) on 2/0 "K" Wacky Hooks

(www.falconlures.com) and watermelon Craw Tubes. Work each tree slowly and thoroughly. We're rigging all of our soft plastics w/a single drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue to keep them in place and giving them better life like action longer. SEE: www.prosoftbaitglue.com for details.

Smallmouth are slow to fair in 25' of water on Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs, watermelon gold flake 4" Yamamoto Cut Tail worms(www.canyonlakefishing.com) on 1/8 oz. jigheads and rootbeer/grn. flake 3" gurbs.

Stripers slow. Trolling a white 1/2 oz. Hyper Striper jig (www.kgenterprise.com) on downriggers,or tight-lining live perch (at night) on humps in 50'-70' near the dam are your best bets for success with linesides.

White Bass fair at night under green lights.

Crappie are good upriver on 8'-12' brushpiles using Curb's Crappie Jigs and live minnows.

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 83 degrees; 824.80':

Largemouth are fair to good at night on black Terminator spinnerbaits or buzzbaits, and at first light along 8'-14' channel breaklines on 1/4 oz. Gold Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com); wacky rigged watermelon red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) on 2/0 1/32 oz. "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com) & 3" plastic swim baits. A drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue (www.prosoftbaitglue.com) added to the hook eye will make soft plastics like tubes, creature baits and especially, cyberflexx jerkbaits perform better and last longer.

Stripers to 8 lbs. are good at night on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, Silver Terminator In-Line spinners.

White Bass are very good at night using 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies and 1/32 oz. white marabou Curb's crappie jigs. Whites from 1-1/2 to 2 lbs. are common.

Crappie are good to 15" at night over brushpiles in 8'-14' on white or chartreuse 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 83 degrees; 1018':

Largemouth are fair to good early in flooded bushes in Red Rock, Morgan and Beaver creeks on Albino Shad Snap Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), shad colored

Berkley crankbaits & pitching watermelon/red Craw Tubes(www.cremelure.com) to docks over 12+' of water. Carolina rigging creek points will produce during the day with high blue skies as bass tend to suspend out in open water on the thermocline. Since plastics are #1 producers during the summer, try rigging soft plastics such as jerkbaits, tubes & creature baits w/a drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue (www.prosoftbaitglue.com).

This glue is phenomenal for repairs of plastics extending use w/less expense.

Stripers schooling on points around the lighthouse at daylight are good on Bleeding Shiner Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), white 1/4 oz. bucktails w/grub trailers and white Snap Back jerkbaits rigged on a weighted 5/0 Bait Jerker Hook (www.falconlures.com)

while they're schooling near the surface and later trolling 1/2 oz. Hyper Striper jigs

(www.kgenterprise.com) or tight-lining live bait in 30' holes around pods of baitfish.
