Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water gin clear; 86 degrees; 909':

Largemouth are fair to good in 14'-20' of water along open water ledges and points using white or shad colored Fat Free Shad crankbaits that will get down

to 10'+, Albino Shad Snap Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) on Carolina rigs and 4" pumpkin Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) on jigheads. Upriver, motion lures like Silver Shad 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits or buzzbaits, topwaters and shallow running crankbaits produce for the first hour of daylight. After the sun is up, a slow methodical presentation with soft plastics such

as wacky rigged soft stick baits like Whacky Sticks rigged on "K" Whacky Hooks (www.falconlures.com) and 6" red shad power worms produce along shaded

channel breaklines.

Smallmouth are fair over rock piles along bluff ledges in 15'-30' feet on Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues, on split shot rigs, Smoke Red flake Snap Back tubes and

watermelon/chartreuse Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com), both on jigheads.

Stripers are slow downrigging Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) or drifting live shad through suspending schools in 40 feet over 60'-80' of water near the dam.

White Bass are slow to fair at night under green lights on 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs, Spoiler Shads and 1-12" Lit'l Fishies.

Crappie are fair upriver in 10'-14' tight to brush and standing timber.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 87 degrees, 824. 90':

Largemouth are fair at night and first light on 5'-10' breaklines using green Photon (www.photonlures.com) crankbaits, black single spin Terminator spinner-

baits (www.terminatorlures.com) and 3" plastic swim baits. Later in the day, soft plastics like "Christmas Tree" Wacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) wacky rigged

on a "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com), tubes, and 4" or 5" watermelon/red finesse worms produce in 8'-15' under boat docks using a "deadstick" technique.

The slower the better.

Stripers are fair at night to 21" in 8'-15' on Terminator In-Line spinners, and 2" Moss Green Lit'l Fishie Shads (www.cremelure.com).

White Bass are very good at night using 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies and 1/32 oz. Road Runners with spinners and white plastic bodies.

Crappie are good at night in 8'-14' on Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 86 degrees; 1017':

Largemouth are fair in 5'-8' from Chimney Slough to the Apple Orchard at first light on Silver Shad Terminator buzzbaits, chrome/blue Chug Bugs

and crankbaits later along open water ledges using white or shad patterned crankbaits. A wacky rigged Ice Tea Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) on 3/0 "K" Wacky Hooks (www.falconlures.com), Blue Glimmer Snap

Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) on Carolina rigs and pumpkin Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs all produce along ledges in 12'-20'.

Stripers are slow to fair downrigging 1/2 oz. white/char. Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) and drifting live bait in 35' of water where fish are

suspending near the dam.

White Bass are fair in 25' along creek points using silver 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows,Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com) and Lit'l Fishies (www.cremelure.com).
