Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 86 degrees; 910.30':

Largemouth are fair to good at first light in 10'-15' on mainlake points using a white 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten spinnerbait (www.terminatorlures.com),

pumpkin/chart. 4" finesse worms on jigheads and wacky rigged green-pumpkin plastic stickbaits like Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com). UPRIVER, the water is murky. There is a shortlived topwater bite using a chrome/blue back Rat-L-Top (www.rat-l-top.com) and black 1/8 oz. Tiny-T buzzbait over flats on channel turns,the most productive technique is deadsticking a green-pumpkin plastic stick bait rigged wacky style on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com) or a

watermelon/red plastic jerkbait tight to stumps, laydowns a\nd brushpiles.

Smallmouth are good to 3 lbs. at daylight along rock piles in 5'-10' on white/blue back Photon crankbaits (www.photonlures.com), split shot rigged Craw Baby (www.slidingweight.com) and a 3" rootbeer grub.

Striped Bass are slow.

White Bass are fair at night under lights using 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies and crappie jigs.

Crappie are fair at the fishing pier and upriver on white 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 87 degrees, 824. 90':

Largemouth are good at night and the first hour of daylight along 4'-12'channel breaklines and docks on wacky rigged grn-pump Whacky Sticks(www.cremelure.com) 1/4 oz. pumpkin-green Terminator jigs and deadsticking

watermelon/red jerkbaits. Carolina rigging a Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com)watermelon/red jerkbait and cranking a green Photon (www.photonlures.com)

crankbait on creek points produces early.

Striped Bass are good to 20" at night on 2" croaker Lit'l Fishie Shads, Terminator In-Line spinners and 3" white grubs.

White Bass are excellent at night on 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies and Road Runners.

Crappie are good at night over brushpiles using 1/16 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 86 degrees; 1016. 20':

Largemouth are fair early along 6'-10' ledges using a 3/16 oz. white/chart. Terminator tungsten spinnerbait www.terminatorlures.com), shad Photon crankbaits (www.photonlures.com) and wacky rigged Christmas Tree

Whacky Stick (www.cremelure.com).

Striped Bass are fair in 28' of water near the dam bottom trolling 1/2 oz. white/blue Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) on downriggers &

tight-lining live bait.

White Bass are slow in 20' on flats near deep creek points on Spoiler Shads and Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com).
