Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 80 degrees; 909.27':
Largemouth are very good to 6 lbs. early along breaklines using Snap Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) rigged on a 5/0 weighted Bait Jerker Hook (www.falconlures.com) and later in 15'-20' on smoke-red flake Snap Back tubes and Texas rigged watermelon-red Scoundrel worms(www.cremelure.com). Upriver, bass are good for the first couple of hours of daylight all day under cloud cover on Silver Shad 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Top (www.rat-l-trap.com) topwaters and
pitching Texas rigged junebug Snap Back creature baits to trees along channel breaklines. Plastics stay in place better if you'll add a drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue to the hook eye when rigging. CHECK OUT: (www.prosoftbaitglue.com)
Smallmouth to 3 lbs in 20' of water on smoke-red tubes, pumpkin-brn. 3/16 oz. finesse jigs w/Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) pork trailers and rootbeer curl tail grubs.
Striped Bass are slow suspended in 70'-80' of water over 100' bottom near the dam. When/if they do come up to feed try trolling a white/gray Hyper Striper jig (www.kgenterprise.com) w/plastic trailer on downriggers
or vertically jigging a 1 oz. Pirk Minnow through the school.
Crappie are fair to good in 12'-20' of water on 1/16 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs, white/blue Tube Jigs and live minnows.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 81 degrees; 824.80':
Black Bass are good at first light along creek points and rip rap using chartreuse 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten (www.terminatorlures.com)spinnerbaits, topwaters, watermelon-red Craw Tubes
(www.cremelure.com) on Texas rigs and wacky style pumpkin plastic Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) rigged on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com).
Striped Bass are fair to good at night using 1/4 oz. white grubs and plastic swim baits like a 2" Lit'l Fishie Shad (www.cremelure.com).
White Bass are very good at night in 8'-20' breaklines on 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies, white Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.
Crappie are good at night using white or chartreuse 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

Black Bass are good to 4 lbs. along chunk rock early using green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks w/chartreuse tails (www.cremelure.com), green bug
Photon crankbaits (www.photonlures.com) and 2" plastic swimbaits. Later, fish are most cooperative in 12'-20' on mainlake points using green-pumpkin Snap Back tubes (www.terminatorlures.com), pumpkin Slider worms on jigheads and Texas rigged 6" watermelon-red Scoundrel
worms and 3/16 oz. brn-pumpkin finesse jigs w/Uncle Josh pork trailers (www.unclejosh.com).
