Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 68 degrees; 911':

Largemouth are good along breaklines in creeks power fishing with lipless crankbaits like 1/4 oz. Rat-l-Trap (www.rat-l-trap,com), topwater walkers and white-chart. Terminator tungsten (www.terminatorlures.com) spinnerbaits through schooling bass over flats

close to feeder creeks. Upriver, early morning productive lures are 1/4 oz. silver Big Eyez buzzbaits (www.falconlures.com) and Zara Puppies or Pop R's.

As the sun gets up pitching a Texas rigged blue flake Snap Back creature bait, 4" watermelon-red Whacky Stick wacky rigged on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook

(www.falconlures.com) orTexas rigged.

Smallmouth are good early over rockpiles in 4'-10' on white Glow Photon crankbaits (www.photonlures.com) and chartreuse spinnerbaits. Then later along ledges down to 20' deep on smoke-red Snap Back tubes, smoke

3" curl tail grubs and 4" smoke Slider Worms on jigheads.

Striped Bass fair at first light under birds over deep, open water on 1/4 oz. Spin Traps, topwater walkers, blue glitter Snap Back jerkbaits rigged on a 5/0 'Bait Jerker hook (www.falconlures.com) and trolling Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com).

White Bass fair early in 30' along mainlake points on Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps and Spoiler Shads (www.cremelure.com).

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 69 degrees; 824.86':

Black Bass are very good over flats in 2'- 6' and along rip rap or boulders on breaklines on greenbug Photon (www.photonlures.com) crankbaits, green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) and 1/4 oz.

chartreuse Big Eyez buzzbaits (www.falconlures.com).

White Bass are good trolling Shad Raps or casting 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishie and 3" curl tail grubs.

Crappie are good in 20' along bridge pilings and docks with brush.
