Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 55 degrees; 909.03':

Largemouth are good on mainlake points in 10'-20' black/blue Terminator jigs w/Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) pork trailers, Texas rigged silver

Ring Worms w/chartreuse tails. Upriver, in 8'-18' along brush and standing timber on wtrmelon-red flake Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com) creature baits, wacky rigged green pumpkin Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook

(www.falconlures.com) and 6" blk/blue Power Worms.

Smallmouth are good to 3.5 lbs over rock piles in 9'-25' using Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues, Sliding Weight Craw Baby(www.slidingweight.com) and

chartreuse-pepper Snap back tubes.

Striped Bass are fair in 40'-60' along main channel breaklines off points burning 1/2 oz. white Hyper Striper jigs and jigging 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows.

White Bass are very good (20-40 keeper per trip) along in 30'-40' vertically jigging pearl Blade Runners, silver Pirk Minnows and chrome/blue Tiny Traps.

Crappie fair upriver.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 53 degrees; 1019.83' (full):

Largemouth are good in 8'-15' along secondary creek points and dropoffs on flats using the new 3/8 oz. white/chart. Super Stainless Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), black-blue 1/4 oz.

Terminator jigs w/Uncle Josh pork trailers and 5" black-blue Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) wacky rigged on 3/0 "K" Wacky Hooks (www.falconlures.com) around boat docks.

Striped Bass are good in 30' at mid-lake trolling white/red 1/2 oz. Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) casting 3" Spoiler Shads and

1/4 oz. pearl/silver flake Blade Runners

White Bass are fair along mainlake points under birds jigging pearl Blade Runners, silver Pirk Minnows, and Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com).

Crappie are fair in 20' on white Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

Lake LBJ is 5 feet low (820.27' )

This drawdown will last until the end of February for repairs to docks, seawalls and to enable dredging of canals. The lake will return to normal (full) level by or before the end of February - just in time for the bass and crappie spawn.
