Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 53 degrees; 909.31':

Largemouth to 5 lbs are very good in 8'-15' along under-cut banklines pitching black-red flake 1/4 oz. Terminator jigs w/ #11 Uncle Josh pork frog

trailers (www.unclejosh.com), blk-blue Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com). Upriver, are good on black-blue Snap Back www.terminatorlures.com) creature baits, crawfish colored Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com)

rigged wacky style on a 2/0 "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com) and 3/8 oz. Texas Red New Stainless Terminator spinnerbait.

Smallmouth to 3 lb.+ are very good over rockpiles in 8'-20' using 1/4 oz. #46 Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), and smoke-red flake Snap Back tubes and 3" smoke curl tail grubs rigged on jigheads.

Stripers are fair in 40'-60' burning 1/2 oz. white/blue Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) and trailers on the bottom and vertically jigging

1/2 oz. silver Pirk Minnows.

White Bass are very good in 30'-45' along main river and creek channels vertically jigging pearl Blade Runners and silver or blue 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 50 degrees; 1019.94':

Largemouth are fair in 10'-20' of water along mainlake and secondary creek points using black-blue Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com), black-blue-purple 1/4 oz. Terminator(www.terminatorlures.com) jig w/Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) mini frog trailer and pumpkin

Sliding Weight Craw Fish(www.slidingweight.com) on split shot rigs.

Stripers are good from Flag Island to The Willows trolling 1/2 oz. white/red Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) and trailers,

vertically jigging 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz. Blade Runners drifting live bait.

White Bass are fair on deep main lake creek points using 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows, chrome 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps and Spoiler Shads.

Crappie fair to good under heated/baited boat docks like Hi-Line Resort (www.hilinelakeresort.com) using 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie & minnows.

Lake LBJ

This lake has been lowered 5' to allow for dock & seawall repair, to clean up and for dredging of canals. The lake will be returned to normal

level in late February.
