Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 63 degrees; 910':

Largemouth are very good to 9 lbs over flats in 4'-10' using Texas rigged pumpkin-chart. Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com), chrome-blue or crawfish-orange Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) and 4"

Scoundrel worms on drop shot rigs in beds.

Smallmouth are very good over rock piles and along ledges in 4'-15'on all chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits, 1/8 oz. crawfish Spin Traps, rootbeer-grn. 3" grubs and 4" pumpkin lizards.

Stripers are good to 24" in 17'-25' along breaklines in bays and channels jigging Pirk Minnows, 4" Spoiler Shads (www.cremelure.com),pearl 1/4 oz. Blade Runners (www.lakeviewlures.com) and trolling 1/2 oz. white

Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) in 26' along saddles and ledges in bays.

White Bass are very good over gravel bars in 2'-6' using chartreuse Lit'l Fishies (www.cremelure.com), 1" grubs and 1/16 oz. Beetle Spins.

Crappie are fair to good in brushpiles 8'-18' on red-chartreuse crappie Tube Jigs and 1/16 oz. chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 61 degrees; 1019':

Largemouth are good 2'-6' deep in creeks and secondary feeders using white-char. (new stainless) Terminator spinnerbaits, crawfish 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Trap (www.rat-l-trap.com), and grn-pumpkin/char. Whacky Sticks.

On bright sunny days, at mid-morning we switch to plastics like watermelon-red Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on drop shot rigs, pumpkin Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com) and watermelon-red Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com) fished closer to initial breaklines in feeder creeks.

Stripers are very good in 30' from the Willows to Mud Island trolling white-chartreuse Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com), jigging 1/2 oz.

silver Pirk Minnows and white bucktails with grub trailers.

White bass are good in 14'-28' along creek points and up the main channel on 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, 3" Spoiler Shads (www.cremelure.com) and 1/4 oz. pearl Blade Runners.

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 61 degrees; 824.75':

Black Bass are very good to 7 lbs in 2'-5' in creeks and pockets using Texas rigged crawfish 4" Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com), white-chartreuse 3/8 oz.

(new stainless series) Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and crawfish Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com). Bedding bass in pockets will fall for a grn-pumpkin/char. Snap Back lizard, pumpkin-char. Whacky Stick rigged wacky style on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com).

White Bass are very good in 18' along channel turns under birds jigging silver 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, chrome Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) and 1/4 oz. pearl Blade Runners (www.lakeviewlures.com).

Crappie are improving around docks using chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.
