Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water gin clear; 84 degrees; 909':

Largemouth are good just before and right at first light on top of ledges in 4'-8' along mainlake points w/ immediate access to deep water on white Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com),

bleeding shad Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) white JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters (www.jdcbaits.com) and weightless wtrmelon soft jerkbaits. Once the sun is on the water, back the boat out deeper and work a

chart-pumpkin Scoundrel worm on a jighead, 3/16 oz. Tiny-T jig w/a Devil's Tongue (www.cremelure.com) trailer or a pumpkin JDC Jr. Craw (www.jdcbaits.com) on jigheads, or Carolina rig creature baits through submerged trees in 12'-18'. Upriver, there is a good early AM bite along undercut banklines on channel turns on wtermelon JDC Skip-N-Pops (www.jdcbaits.com), watermelon creature baits and wacky rigged plastic stickbaits like a Whacky Stick.

Smallmouth are good to 3.5 pounds at first light on a pumpkin JDC JR. Craw, pumpkin Devil's Tongue on drop shot rigs and split shot rigged Baby Craws (www.slidingweight.com).

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 85 degrees; 824.85':

Largemouth are good at night and first light along seawall rip-rap, and laydowns on Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com)black-red or watermelon JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters (www.jdcbaits.com)

& watermelon-red Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com). Best

nightime baits are a Terminator buzzbait or their short arm spinnerbait w/single Colorado blade and a JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters - the color doesn't matter as long as it's black.

Stripers are good at night using Spoiler Shads (www.cremelure.com), white bucktail jigs and free-lining live bait.

White Bass are very good at night on 1-1/2" blue back Lit'l Fishies.

Crappie are fair to good over brushpiles on minnows and crappie jigs.
