Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 52-54 degrees; 906.47' (3.5' low):
Both numbers and quality fish are most active and aggressive on days w/less than perfect weather conditions. Cloudy/dizzily, cool days are optimum for success. Look for bass to be moving around rocks and submerged brushpiles. If there is a best tip it
is work slow.
Largemouth are good around submerged brushpiles and trees in 10'-15' on mainlake and secondary creek points under clouds and in the rain using rootbeer JDC Craws or JDC curl tail grubs, wacky rigged Whacky Sticks, pumpkin Snap Back lizards on Carolina rigs and shad pattern Suspending Rogues.
Smallmouth to 3.5 lbs. are very good on rockpiles on mainlake and secondary creek points in 10'-15' on rootbeer-green 5" JDC Craws, cotton candy Whacky Sticks on jigheads and JDC curl tail grubs.
Stripers are slow in 40'-70' from the dam area to midlake.
White Bass are slow to fair along the river channel in 30'-60' vertically jigging Pirk Minnows.

Lake LBJ: Water clear to stained; 53 degrees; 825' (full)
Largemouth are fair to good in 8'-12' in boulder rocks and along mainlake points with laydowns or stumps using bubblegum Snap Back jerkbaits on Carolina rigs, smoke 5" JDC Craws and wacky rigged watermelon-red Whacky Sticks rigged on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook by Falcon Lures. Pitching blk-blue 1/4 oz. Rattlin' Pro Series
Terminator jigs and smoke-gold fleck 5" JDC Craws to docks and rip rap are good for fish to 5 lbs.
Stripers are good to 26" in the shoals below Inks Dam on Spoiler Shads, Albino Snap Back plastic jerkbaits
on red Bait Jerker hooks by Falcon Lures and free-ling live bait.
White Bass are fair to good in 20'-25' along the main channel vertically jigging Pirk Minnows, 2" Spoiler Shads and Road Runners.
Crappie are fair under heated docks on minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear-murky; 51 degrees; 1013' (7' low)
Largemouth are fair to good in 10'-20' along secondary and mainlake creek points in using Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs and smoke JDC Craws on jigheads. Brushpiles on channel breaklines & shallow water boat docks in 6'-10' produce pitching blk-purple 1/cozy. Terminator Pro Series jigs w/pork trailers and 1/32 oz. weighted, wacky rigged 5" Wacky Sticks on 3/0 "K" Wacky Hooks by Falcon Lures.
Stripers are good from The Willows to Mud Island in 20' to 25' vertically jigging silver Pirk Minnows, swimming "natural" Spoiler Shads, trolling white striper jigs and drifting live bait.
White Bass uplake from Paradise Point are improving along points in 15'-25' where the main channel and creeks intersect casting 2" Spoilers Shads, jigging Pirk Minnows and trolling large Shad Raps.
