Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Both numbers and quality fish are most active and aggressive on days w/less than perfect weather conditions. Cloudy/dizzily, cool days are optimum for success. Look for bass to be moving around rocks and submerged brushpiles. If there is a best tip it is work slow.

Smallmouth to 3.5 lbs. are very good on rockpiles on mainlake and secondary creek points in 10'-15' on rootbeer-green 5" JDC Craws, cotton candy Whacky Sticks on jigheads and JDC curl tail grubs.

Stripers are slow in 40'-70' from the dam area to midlake.

White Bass are slow to fair along the river channel in 30'-60' vertically jigging Pirk Minnows.
