Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 53-54 degrees; 906.28' (4'low)

Largemouth are fair to good over brushpiles and along bluff ledges inside of secondary points in 6'-15' using bubblegum Snap Back jerkbaits rigged on a weighted 3/0 RED Bait Jerker Hook (Falcon Lures) school bus yellow floating Scoundrel worms, wacky rigged JDC bubblegum JDC Gibronis and suspending jerkbaits like Rogues or Thundersticks.

Smallmouth are very good over rockpiles in 5-20 feet on chartreuse Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits, smoke-red JDC 3" Craws and crawfish Rebel crankbaits.

Stripers are fair from Turkey Cove point to Toms Creek jigging 1/2 oz. silver Pirk Minnows, white bucktails and 4" grubs on jigheads.

White Bass are good vertically jigging 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows, Road Runners and trolling Shad Raps. Crappie are fair at the crappie pier on minnows.

Lake LBJ: Water clear to stained; 51-53 degrees; 825.89' (full)

Largemouth are fair in brushpiles under/along docks, boulders and rip rap in 4'-12' slowrolling a Texas red Terminator spinnerbait, whacky rigged bubblegum Whacky Sticks and smoke-red JDC Craws.

Stripers N/A.

White Bass are good in 18'-26' feet along mainlake points and channel turns jigging Pirk Minnows and casting Spoiler Shads or white grubs.

Crappie are good in 8'-12' feet on brushpiles and wooden dock pilings using 2" grubs, plastic or hair crappie jigs and minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear-murky; 50 degrees; 1012.77' (7.5' low)

creek channels on Carolina rigged watermelon-red Snap Back pumpkin-chartreuse lizards, smokin' green Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs, smoke-red JDC Drop Shot worms and suspending jerkbaits.

Stripers are very good to 30" from The Willows uplake in 22'-30' drifting live bait, vertically jigging 1/2 oz. silver Pirk Minnows and trolling 1/2 oz. striper jigs.

White Bass are fair to good from Paradise point to Mud Island jigging 1/4 oz. silver or chartreuse Pirk Minnows, casting 2" Spoiler Shads, 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps, jigging 1/4 oz. silver or chartreuse Pirk Minnows and trolling deep diving Shad Raps.

Crappie are fair on minnows and double rigged white crappie jigs.
