Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 68 degrees; 905.74':

Largemouth are good to 5 lbs. early, late and all day under cloud cover in 6'-12' over mainlake flats and areas with timber using white Terminator stainless spinnerbaits, Daquiri JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters and pumpkin-chartreuse Whacky Sticks. Smallmouth are fair to good along ledges in 10'-20' on rootbeer JDC grubs, pumpkin Devil's Tongues and smoke-red tubes. White Bass are fair in 30' jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, Tiny Traps and 2" Spoiler Shads. Crappie are good at the fishing pier on minnows. Lake LBJ: Water clear; 68 degrees; 824.80':

Black Bass are good to 5.5 lbs in 4'-10' around wood cover on blue-white-chart Terminator spinnerbaits, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, wacky rigged green pumpkin Whacky Sticks and watermelon-red 5" JDC Craws worked along rip rap and docks. White Bass are good at night on Lit'l Fishies, crappie jigs and minnows. Crappie are very good in 8'-15' on white crappie jigs and minnows. Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 67 degrees; 1011.21':

Largemouth are good early and late in 4'-15' along breaklines and ledges in larger creeks and pockets using watermelon JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters white/chartreuse Terminator buzzbaits early, pumpkin Whacky Sticks and Ice Tea Scoundrel worms on jigheads. Striper are fair in 30' around Shaw and Garrett Islands drifting live bait, casting 3" natural Spoiler Shads and trolling. White Bass are fair from midlake to Mud Island trolling, jigging 2" Spoiler Shad and 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows. Crappie are fair under baited docks on minnows.
