Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 71 degrees; 905.45' (4.5' low):
Largemouth are good to 7 lbs early in 8'-20' on mainlake points and brushpiles along secondary points using crawfish Rat-L-Traps, JDC Skip N Pop topwaters and 6 inch blue flake worms.
Smallmouth are fair to good in 8'-20' on smoke-red tubes, rootbeer green curl tail grubs and drop shot Devil's Tongues.
White Bass are fair in jumps along points over 20' on 1/8 oz.Bleeding Shad Tiny Traps, Shad Raps and grubs.
Crappie are fair to good very early tight to trees and at the fishing pier on minnows.

Black Bass are fair to good early and late using watermelon-red Whacky Sticks, pumpkin Skip-N-Pop topwater and chartreuse-blue back crankbaits.
Stripers are fair at night in 5'-10' using 2" pearl Spoiler Shads and 3" Albino Flukes.
White Bass are good at night 1.5" Spoiler Shads and minnows.
Crappie are good at night on white crappie jigs and minnows.

Largemouth are fair to good early and late along wood cover and bluff ledges in 6' - 15' using white/chartreuse 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks and Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps.
Stripers are fair in 28' with a short lived surface bite right at daylight using 3" Spoiler Shads and Snap Back jerkbaits, but drifting live bait produces best through the day.
White Bass are only fair in 30' vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps.
Crappie are good over brushpiles in 10'-15' of water on minnows.
