Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 82 degrees; 904.72':

Largemouth are fair at first light and under clouds in 8'-15' using 4" Big Pig creature baits on light Carolina rigs, rootbeer JDC grubs and white crankbaits. Smallmouth are fair, better at night or at first light in 10'-30' on 4" rootbeer JDC drop shot worms and Ice Tea Devil's Tongues. Crappie are fair over brushpiles in 14' on minnows. Largemouth are fair to good at first light along laydowns and stumps on breaklines in 5'-12' on white-blue-chartreuse 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, pearl JDC Skip N Pop topwaters and Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps. Striper are fair at night on 2" Spoiler Shads and white grubs. White Bass are very good at night on Lit'l Fishies and 1-1/2" Spoiler Shads. Crappie are fair to good at night in 8'-14' on crappie jigs and white grubs. Largemouth are fair to good at first light in 5'-18' over flats, around rockpiles and ledges using Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, Daiquiri JDC Skip N Pop topwaters & white Terminator custom tungsten spinnerbaits. Stripers are fair drifting live bait and trolling striper jigs in 30' from below Shaw Island to the dam with topwater action at daylight on 3" Spoiler Shads and white Snap Back jerkbaits rigged on a red Bait Jerker Hook.
