Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 67- 69 degrees; 902.18':

Largemouth are fair to good early in 14'-20' in brushpiles along mainlake bluffs and points using rootbeer JDC spider grubs on jigheads, purple straighttails Scoundrel woms on Shakey Head jigheads and deep running crankbaits. Smallmouth are fair to good at first light in 12'-25' on rootbeer finesse worms on Shaky Head jigheads, pumpkin Devil's Tongues on drop shots Stripers are fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on and white bucktail jigs on downriggers and vertically jigging 1/2 oz. silver Pirk Minnows around humps. White Bass slow. Crappie are fair around trees 12'-18' deep suspended over deeper water using white Curb's crappie jigs, Road Runners and live minnows. Lake LBJ: Water clear; 68 degrees; 824. 84':

Largemouth are good to 5 lbs early and late tight to submerged laydowns and stumps on channel breaklines using blk/blue 1/4 oz. Terminator Pro Series Jigs, chart. wacky rigged plastic stickbaits like Whacky Sticks and dead-sticking Flukes or tubes under boat docks. Stripers fair at first light swimming Lit'l Fishie Shads and trolling #7 Shad Raps down deep channels. White bass are fair vertically jigging sil. Pirk Minnows and Spoiler Shads. Crappie are fair over 15' brushpiles on white Curb's jigs and minnows. Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 67 degrees; 999.63':

Most boat ramps unusable due to low water. Boaters should use caution. Few fishermen out. Largemouth are fair early in 12' to 25' along mainlake and creek ledges using 4" blue finesse worms, deep diving crankbaits and watermelon Terminator football head jigs. Stripers are only fair in 30' drifting live bait and trolling striper jigs and deep diving crankbaits from Flag Island to the dam.
