Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 62 degrees; 901.97':

Largemouth are good under cloud cover in 10'-20' of water working pumpkin-green 3/16 oz. Curb's Jigs, 6" purple Scoundrel worms and rootbeer-green JDC Craws on jigheads slowly along ledges and mainlake points. Smallmouth are good early along bluff ledges and over rockpiles using pumpkin Devil's Tongues w/chart. tails on drop shots and smoke/red flake tubes on jig- heads. Stripers are fair at first light over mainlake humps trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on downriggers, vertically jigging white bucktail jigs or Pirk Minnows. White Bass are fair but small at daylight. Crappie are fair in timber 10'-15' on white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows. Lake LBJ: Water clear; 62 degrees; 824. 90':

Largemouth are good in 2'-6' tight to laydowns, stumps around brushpiles in 12' under docks on 4" watermelon Ring Worms, blk/blue Terminator 1/4 oz. Pro Series jigs, weightless 5" purple flake Whacky Sticks Stripers N/A White Bass fair but small at first light in main channels trolling Shad Raps and casting/jigging Tiny Traps or Road Runners to surfacing schools. Vertically jigging 1/4 Pirk Minnows in holes along mainlake points produces throughout the day. Crappie are fair in 12'-14' over brushpiles. Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 61 degrees; 999.14':

Largemouth are fair in 8'-15' along mainlake creek points deadsticking pumpkin/bubblegum 1/4 oz Terminator jigs, smokin' green Devil's Tongues on drop shots, pumpkin/gold flake JDC Craws on jig- heads and suspending white crankbaits. Stripers are fair to good at first light schooling on the surface from around Lighthouse Point using Albino Snap Back soft jerkbaits on weighted hooks, 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and Red Fins, or drifting live bait as an alternative to lures. White Bass are fair early in 30' creek channels vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and trolling "deep" Shad Raps. No limits reported.
