Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 60 degrees; 901.64':

Largemouth are good in 10'-15' along transition spots on bluffs, ledges and dropoffs of mainlake and secondary points using grape Scoundrel worms on "shaky" jigheads, Texas rigged watermelon-red Gambler paddle tail worms and blk/blue 3/16 oz. Terminator finesse or Curb's jigs w/pork trailers. Smallmouth are good early along sloping mainlake points on Daiquiri Skip N Pop topwaters and bluff ledges using pumpkin Devil's Tongues w/chartreuse tails on drop shots, 3/16 oz. Terminator finesse and smoke/red flake tubes on jigheads. Stripers are improved, especially in 'sloppy' weather, under birds along the mainlake channel trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on downriggers or lead-line set for 30' and vertically jigging Pirk Minnows . White Bass are fair along mainlake channels vertically jigging 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows and Road Runners. Lake LBJ: Water clear; 59 degrees; 824.88':

Largemouth are very good to 6 lbs. around stumps/laydowns in 4'-8' and rip rap on seawalls and docks using Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps or Gizz 4 crankbaits, wacky rigged purple or blue flake Whacky Sticks, white/chartreuse Terminator "custom tungsten" spinnerbaits and 3/16 oz. black/blue Curb's jigs w/plastic trailers. White Bass fair trolling Shad Raps and casting/jigging Tiny Traps or Road Runners in main channels. Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 58 degrees; 998.5': FEW FISHERMEN HAVE BEEN OUT.

Largemouth are fair just inside of the mouth of deepest creek channels using smoke JDC spider grubs on jigheads, smoke-red flake tubes and pumpkin Terminator finesse jigs with craw trailers along ledges in 8-15 feet of water. Stripers are good schooling under birds around Lighthouse Point at first light by vertically jigging Pirk Minnows, 1/4 oz. white bucktails and Red Fins. Drifting live bait and trolling may also produces. White Bass only fair trolling deep diving Shad Raps and vertically jigging 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows.
