Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 54-55 degrees; 901.65':
Largemouth are fair in 8'-16' along bluff ledges and
secondary points on 3/16 oz. brown Curb's hair jigs,
4" blue flake Whacky Sticks, 6" purple Scoundrel
worms on 'shaky' jigheads.
Smallmouth are fair early (best under cloud cover)
in 6'-10' working down sloping points using purple
Robo-type worms on "giggy" jigheads, smoke JDC
grubs, then along breaklines and bluff ledges from
10'-20' deep w/3/16 oz. black Curb's hair jigs and
smoke 3" Creme Lures' tubes on ball-type jigheads.
Stripers are improving shallower (again-as weather
and water cools down) especially in 'sloppy' weather,
over deep water vertically jigging Pirk Minnows,
white Curb's striper jigs and trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on downriggers or lead-line.
White Bass are slow along main river channel
jigging 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows and Road Runners.

Lake LBJ: Water clear; 56-57 degrees; 824.86':
Largemouth are good in numbers on stumps and
laydowns and along seawalls in 3'-6' on Bleeding
Shad Rat-L-Traps, 1/4 oz. white/char. Terminator
spinnerbaits Texas rigged Fire & Ice worms w/bass
up to 6 lbs. by deadsticking wtrmelon-red plastic
jerkbaits.
White Bass are fair casting and jigging Tiny Traps
at daylight and trolling Shad Raps.
Crappie are fair in 10'-15' over brushpiles on Curb's
crappie jigs and live minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 54-56 degrees; 998.16':
Largemouth are fair to good under cloud cover on
3'-6' flats in Beaver and Morgan Creeks using Bleeding
Shad Rat-L-Traps, white Terminator tungsten spinner-
baits and wacky rigged 4" Whacky Sticks and purple
Scoundrel worms on jigheads all fished around wood
cover. Bluff ledges have produced the best bass by
hopping 3/16 oz. Curb's jigs w/small craw trailers and
Texas rigged 4" blk/blue tail Ring Worms down
ledges in 10'-15' of water.
Stripers are iffy but generally good early on cloudy
mornings schooling out and uplake from Lighthouse
Point vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and 1/4 oz.
white Curb's striper jigs. Drifting live bait and covering water trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits (by Smack Tackle) on down riggers set at 26'-30' produce when the fish go down.
