Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Clear lower-murky upper; 67 degrees; 914.65':
Largemouth are good in clear water 5-14 feet deep over
gravel flats and transition areas of bluffs using JDC watermelon lizards, pumpkin JDC spider grubs, and purple Scoundrel worms on shaky jigheads.
Smallmouth are good in 5 to 12 feet along mainlake points and ledges using rootbeer JDC curl tail grubs, 6 inch watermelon Scoundrels on jigheads and white suspending crankbaits.
Stripers are fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on down riggers and vertically jigging silver Pirk Minnows and white 1/4 oz. Curb's striper jigs.
White Bass are fair in 10 to 20 feet vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, trolling Shad Raps and Diawa Shad Masters.
Crappie are slow.

Lake LBJ: Water murky; 66 degrees; 824.80':
Largemouth are fair in 3-12 feet along docks,
seawalls, stumps/laydowns on flats using 1/4 oz.
crawfish (No. 46) Rat-L-Traps, chartreuse crankbaits
and 6" watermelon Scoundrel worms.
White bass are fair trolling Shad Raps and vertically
jigging Tiny Traps and Pirk Minnows under birds.
Crappie are good around in clear water in 6-10 feet
using live minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs.
