Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 69 degrees; 910.36'

Largemouth are good in 8-15 feet in treelines bank- shallowin flooded grass, over sloping gravel flats and breaklines using rootbeer-green flake Baby Brush Hogs, JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters in feeder creeks and 6" watermelon-red Scoundrel worms on shaky jigheads. Smallmouth are good in 5' to 15' along mainlake points and ledges using rootbeer JDC curl tail grubs, 6" smoke-red tubes on ball jigheads and Bleeding Shad Tiny Traps. Stripers are slow. to fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits and Shad Raps. Crappie are fair to good around submerged brushpiles along breaklines using Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows. Choke Canyon: Water stained to clear; 70 degrees: Largemouth are good to very good along mainlake points in 6'-12' on chartreuse/orange belly Fat Free Shad, white and/or watermelon Curb's Erratic jigs (like Chatterbaits) watermelon-red Flukes (weightless early and Carolina rigs later in the A.M.). Lake LBJ: Water stained; 70 degrees; 824.75':

Largemouth are good to 5 lbs in 4-12 feet along docks and breaklines of flats with stumps or laydowns using watermelon-red Big Pig creature baits, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, Texas rigged watermelon-red tubes and pumpkin JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters. Crappie are good over brushpiles in 8-12 feet on minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs.
