Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 70 degrees; 911.08':

Largemouth are good in 8'-15' in treelines bank- shallow, in grass using rootbeer-green flake Baby Brush Hogs, JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters in feeder creeks and cotton candy Scoundrel worms on shaky jigheads. Smallmouth are good in 8' to 15' along mainlake points ledges and rockpiles using rootbeer JDC grubs & craws, smoke-red tubes on ball jigheads and Bleeding Shad Tiny Traps. Stripers are slow. to fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits and Shad Raps. White Bass are fair in 4'-8' upriver using Road Runners and slow in the main lake. Crappie are fair to good around submerged brushpiles along breaklines using Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows. Lake LBJ: Water stained; 71 degrees; 824.92':

Largemouth are good to 7-1/2 lbs in 4'-12' along docks, rip rap of seawalls and breaklines w/stumps and laydowns using watermelon-red Flukes, watermelon JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters, weightless wacky rigged Whacky Sticks and chartreuse crankbaits. White bass are slow to fair trolling Shad Raps. Crappie are very good over brushpiles in 12 feet on minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs. Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 70 degrees; 1005.02':

Largemouth are good in 4' to 12' along breaklines of creek bluffs, areas w/ submerged grass and in coves/ pockets using pumpklin Skip-N-Pop topwaters, Bleeding Shad 'Traps, weightless, wacky rigged watermelon/ purple flake Whacky Sticks. Stripers to 23" are good from Flag Island to Black Rock in 20'-30' using topwaters and 'Traps at first light, jigging white Curb's bucktail jigs and drifting live bait through schools. White Bass are slow but still fair trolling Shad Raps along Hog Island and casting or jigging Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps above Paradise Point. Crappie are fair on minnows and Curb's crappie jigs.
