Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 74-77 degrees; 910.0':
Largemouth are fair to good at first light in 8'- 15'
along mainlake points on Ice Tea Scoundrel worms,
rootbeer JDC grubs and white crankbaits.
Smallmouth are good in 10'-15' over rockpiles on
mainlake points and ledges using rootbeer JDC grubs/
craws and green-pumpkin tubes on ball jigheads.
Stripers are slow to 21" trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits,
vertically jigging white Curb's striper jigs and Pirk
Minnows.
White Bass are slow.
Crappie are fair to good upriver in 8' around
submerged brushpiles along channel breaklines using

Choke Canyon: Water stained; 78 degrees:
Largemouth are good to very good along breaklines of
mainlake points and on submerged channel ledges from
8'-20' using chartreuse crankbaits, watermelon-red Whacky Sticks, watermelon "Erratic" jigs (Chatterbait-type), watermelon-chartreuse Big Pig creature baits and Carolina rigged lizards.
Channel Catfish are excellent.

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 77-78 degrees; 824.80':
Largemouth are fair early in 6'-12' along rip rap on
seawalls, docks and water willows using weightless
watermelon-red Whacky Sticks, Shad Rat-L-Traps and
weightless, Flukes.
White bass are very good at night using Creme Lure's
Spoilers and in-line spinners.
Crappie are fair to good over brushpiles in 12' on
minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs.
