Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 74-77 degrees; 914.30':

Largemouth are fair in 2'- 6' at first light along flooded weeds and trees on watermelon-red Flukes, watermelon Whacky Sticks on TX. rigs and white crankbaits along points. Smallmouth are good in 8'-15' along lake points and ledges using rootbeer JDC grubs/craws and watermelon-red tubes on ball jigheads. Stripers are slow. White Bass are slow. Crappie are fair to good upriver in 8' around submerged brushpiles along channel breaklines using Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows. Lake LBJ: Water muddy & alge bloom; 77-78 degrees; 824.92':

Largemouth are fair at daylight in 3'-12' along rip rap along seawalls, docks and water willows using JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters weightless watermelon-red Whacky Sticks, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair over brushpiles in 12' on minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs. Channel Catfish are slow on minnows and dip bait. Yellow and Blue Catfish are fair on trotlines with gold fish or perch. Lake Buchanan: Water clear-murky; 76 degrees; 1015.76':

Largemouth are good at first light in 5' to 15' in pockets and points in creeks using white Curb's buzzbaits/Erratic jigs, watermelon Skip-N-Pop topwaters, weightless, Texas rigged purple flake Whacky Sticks. Stripers are fair out from the Lighthouse on the surface over 30' using topwaters and 'Traps at first light, jigging white Curb's bucktail jigs and drifting live bait. White Bass are slow to fair trolling Shad Raps and jigging Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps over rockpiles in 20' to 30' of water. Crappie are good over brushpiles on minnows and Curb's crappie jigs.
