Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water: clear; 84 degrees; 922.48':
(FLOODING LAST WEEK HAS THIS LAKE EXTREMELY HIGH. Dam release is 5ooo cfs making for a tough and slow bite.)
Largemouth are fair in grass and flooded bushes early and late on JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters, watermelon-red Whacky Sticks and later on Texas rigged blue flake worms and drop shot Devil's Tongues along breaklines and ledges.
Smallmouth are fair early in 12'- 28' using smoke JDC
grubs, 3/16 oz. pumpkin Curb's jigs w/matching JDC craw trailers.
Stripers are slow to fair (but undersized) trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits over and around humps and deep jigging 1 oz. Pirk Minnows at daylight.
White Bass are slow.
Crappie are slow.

Lake LBJ Water Stained, 85 degrees, 824.54'
Largemouth are fair to good early in 5'-12' using black/blue Curb's Erratic jigs, blue flake Whacky Sticks, Texas rigged Big Pigs to docks and laydowns.
Stripers to 2" good at night on Creme Lure's 2" Spoiler Shads and Little Fishies.
White Bass fair at night on Little Fishies.
Crappie are fair over brush piles in clear water 8'-14' deep on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.
Channel Catfish are very good on worms, liver and
dip bait.
Yellow and Blue Catfish are very good on trotlines using goldfish and perch.

Lake Buchanan: Water: clear; 85 degrees; 1017.97'
Largemouth are fair 6'-15' deep at daylight along
deeper creek points and ledges of in creeks using a Pop R, shad Flukes, watermelon-red Whacky Sticks rigged on a jighead.
Stripers are fair at first light on the surface on Spoiler Shads plastic swim baits and drifting or freelining live bait from Lighthouse Point to the dam.
White Bass are slow and small trolling Shad Raps and
jigging 2" plastic swim baits through shad schools along the river channel.
Crappie fair using pink/white or chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows..
