Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water: clear; 69 degrees; 909':
Largemouth are very good over flats, along breaklines of creeks and bays in 2'-10' on Rat-L-Traps and "P.B.J" plastic stickbaits. Along bluffs inside of secondary points on green pumpkin Whacky Sticks on jigheads or Texas riggedand blue flake Scoundrel
worms on shaky head jigs. **NOTE: Cold front could alter both the largemouth and smallmouth bite w/fish suspending along breaklines or over open water and acquiring a case of lockjaw until weather stabilizes**
Smallmouth are good to almost 5 lbs. along ledges and over rockpiles in 6'- 15' using JDC tomato-red curl tail grubs on jigheads, smoke red flake tubes and 3/16 oz. pumpkin Curb's jigs with matching drop shot worms.
Stripers are fair to good in the lower end vertically jigging Pirk Minnows with some early morning schooling action by mostly juvenile fish on Spoiler Shads, Gizz 4 and "down deep" Shad Raps.
Crappie are fair up river on minnows and crappie jigs.

Lake LBJ Water Stained, 66 degrees, 824.86':
Largemouth are very good, in 2'-6' using 1/8th oz. Curb's buzzbaits, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps and wacky rigged green pumpkin Whacky Sticks.
White Bass fair vertically jigging Pirk Minnows under birds.
Crappie are good brush piles in 12'-15' on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water: clear; 66 degrees; 1017.99'
Largemouth are good on stump flats in 2'-8' using 1/4 oz. Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, Texas rigged weightless watermelon blue flake Whacky Sticks, pitchin' pumpkin/chart. Curb's jigs and smoke-red flake JDC Spider Grubs along ledges.
Stripers are good to 27" schooling over 25' to 40' casting Spoiler Shads (plastic swim baits), Rat-L-Traps, jigging Pirk Minnows and drifting or free-lining live bait.
White Bass are fair along the river channel or in deep creeks on Tiny Traps and 2" plastic swim baits.
