Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 58-60 degrees, 909.06':
Largemouth are very good to 5+ lbs between fronts 5' to 15' deep on standing timber but primarily along bluffs inside of secondary points using Texas rigged Red Shad JDC drop shot worms, watermelon-red
and/or rootbeer- green flake plastic stickbaits like Whacky Sticks, but Baby Brush Hogs and tubes on jigheads account for the most bass.
Smallmouth are also very good to almost 4 lbs along mainlake points and bluff ledges using Tomato Red JDC grubs and smoke-red flake tubes on 1/8th oz. jigheads, smoke drop shot worms and white suspending Fat Free Shad or Bomber crankbaits produce.
Stripers are fair in the lower end over humps jigging Pirk Minnows,trolling Gizz 4 or "Down Deep" Shad Raps on down riggers in 40' to 60'.
White bass are few and far between schooling along mainlake bluffs using blade baits.
Crappie are slow to fair on live minnows.

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 60 degrees, 824.84':
Largemouth are very good on docks and seawalls using pumpkin JDC drop shot worms, PBJ colored Snag Proof jigs and green pumpkin tubes.
Stripers N/A
White bass are fair to good schooling in the channel around the power plant on silver Pirk Minnows and Spoiler Shads.
Crappie are fair in brushpiles under heated docks on minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear: 59 degrees; 1018.13' :
Black bass are good along ledges and points in 8' to 20' using Texas rigged blue flake Scoundrel worms, watermelon-red JDC curl tail grubs on jigheads and suspending blue back Fat Free Shads.
Stripers are good over 28' of water from Garrett to Shaw Island drifting live shad, trolling "Down Deep" Shad Raps, jigging Spoiler Shad swim baits and Pirk Minnows.
White bass are slow to fair along mainlake points and creek bluffs 15' to 25' deep jigging Tiny Traps, Curb's crappie jigs and blade baits.
Crappie are slow in brushpiles on live minnows.
