Galveston Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

http://fishinggalvestontx.com/news/galveston-fishing-report
This past week has been a good week for fishing in Galveston. We are catching good numbers of nice slot redfish in the Galveston back lakes and bayous. Baits of choice have been live shrimp and live finger mullet. We are fishing the live shrimp under Cajun Thunder Popping Corks in 2 to 4 foot of water.
As we are fishing the live shrimp, we will throw some rods out with live finger mullet on bottom. Both of these techniques are working well, and yielding some very nice redfish.
The Bull Reds are definitely running along the Galveston Jetties. Depending on the tides the action is either on the North or South Jetty. Just move around until you find some eating fish. The baits of choice for the Giant Galveston Bull Reds have been fresh shad and fresh cut mullet fished on bottom. One thing to keep in mind is use a large enough weight to keep your bait on bottom. At times the currents along the Galveston Jetties are so strong that we will have to use up to a 10 oz weight to keep the baits in the strike zone.
Our Galveston Flounder Gigging Charters have been having mixed success depending on the conditions. When the conditions allow, we are gigging some extremely nice fish. Full limits are easy when conditions allow us to go where the fish are. There have been some nights that the winds blow until 2am ..... Then the Flounder Gigging is ON!! Once these winds subside and the waters clear, our options will be better, and the flounder gigging in Galveston Texas will be absolutely Crazy GOOD!!
