Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Report

Lake Ray Roberts is about a foot and a half lower than normal level and water temps are running from 71 to 75 degrees. Water color is clear to stained slightly in most areas of the lake right now. Largemouth bass fishing is fair the past couple weeks. We are catching some fish in the back of creeks and coves and some on main lake points. Small white spinner baits and shad colored crank baits have been the best with 4" and 5" Yum Dingers in junebug color also catching some fish. Light weight or no weight is how we are rigging the plastics. Topwater bite has been real iffy the past 10 days.

White bass fishing is very good and we are catching limits every trip in October. Fish are on Humps, Roads, Ridges and Points from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island on the east arm of the lake. There is some spots producing on the west arm also. Best depth has been 30 to 35 this week and we are still catching all our fish on Cotton Cordell 3/4 oz. CC Spoons in chrome color with a Flies-By-Night fly tied 14 inches above the spoon. The fish are moving more than I like and it takes a lot of looking to find a good bite lately. As the water temps cool down into the 60's the fish will hug the bottom on structure more and we will do more catching and less looking. Finding a good bite right now is a timing issue...you can be at a spot with no bite and return to the same spot an hour later and catch a fish on every drop. Ray Roberts sand bass fishing will only get better as we head into late fall and winter.

Have fun fishing,

Tim
