LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT

Lake Ray Roberts is 3 feet lower than normal level with water temperatures 60 to 68 degrees. Large mouth bass fishing is good fishing in 2 to 4 feet around shallow cover. Best baits to use are light wieght soft plastics in junebug or watermelon colors. The whole lake has warmed up the past few days so there can be spawning fish any where right now. Best baits for us this week has been Yum Dingers 4 and 5 inch fished very slow. Too much action to the bait will really reduce the amount of bites you will get. We are getting the most action by rigging the soft plastic baits with a small split shot about 18 inches above the bait. The wind makes it hard to use these light wieghted rigs but can be done if you can get the wind at your back while fishing.

White bass fishing is very good in the warming water we have now and there are birds working some days to help show where the most active fish are. The sand bass are moving a lot this time of year and you have to keep moving to stay on biting fish. We have caught fish from 18 feet deep to 35 feet deep this week and everywhere in between. Most of our fishing has been from Isle du Bois State Park to the mouth of Indian Creek. Humps, points, roads and ridges are all producing fish.
Cotton Cordell 3/4 oz. CC Spoons in chrome color with a Flies-By-Night chartreuse fly tied 14 inches above the spoon is what we are using to catch them with.
