LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT

White bass fishing on Lake Ray Roberts was good this week. The lake level is still down 8ft but as I write this report we are getting rain and the lake is rising. We need to thank Texas Parks and Wildlife folks for having the silt removed from the Jordan Park ramp this week so that all the ramps are in good shape for launching. Water temperature was 47 to 48 degrees on the main lake before this deep freeze we are in. a hump south of Isle du Bois State Park, the north point at the mouth of Johnson Branch, the road bed at the mouth Of Sand Branch and the hump in front of Lantana Lodge have all been consistent producers of sand bass this winter. Cotton Cordell ¾ oz. spoon chrome color was the best bait again this week. The best activity level this week was 27ft. To 32ft. A couple short hops off the bottom and hold the bait still is the retrieve that will work and as the water gets even colder the holding it still is more important. I do not have a report this week for largemouth bass on Lake Ray Roberts.

Tip Of the Week: In water as cold as it is now, you will get a lot of missed hits on the slab or spoon you use. If you want to reduce the amount of hits without hookups you are having you can add another hook to your bait. Use a split ring and attach another treble hook to the end of your bait where you tie the line on. Doing this will get you more hookups and less missed strikes in real cold water.

Have good fishing week,

Tim
