LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT
Largemouth bass fishing is starting to get good at Lake Ray Roberts. We have been fishing around grass in 2 to 6 feet in the warmest water we can find. Late in the day have found 60 degree water temperatures in the protected areas back in the creeks. Catching fish on Red lipless crank baits, Chartreuse and white Booyah Boogie baits, Yum wooly bug creature bait in junebug color and Yum dinger junebug color. Best action has been from 4pm til dark as the water is at its warmest. Biggest fish we caught this week was 7 lbs. Shallow grass bite will get better this week with the weather we have been having.
Sand bass fishing was really good this week and we are catching lots of magnum size fish. Best depth is 30ft. to 35ft. Best bait Cotton Cordell CC spoon ¾ oz. chrome fished on humps, roads, points and ridges from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island. There is some birds around but have not seen any working on schools of fish. Ken, who fished with me on monday for sand bass got a bonus bite for the last fish of the day. 30 minutes later he landed a 27lb. blue catfish on 10lb. Silver thread Flourocarbon line using a whippy medium action sand bass rod. It wore me out just watching him fight that fish that long.
