LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT

The only thing that changed this week at Lake Ray Roberts was the weather. As I write this it is snowing in Denton, Texas on the saturday before Easter. I guess after the winter we had we should not be surprised. With the rain we got last weekend the lake raised 1 foot to be down only 6 feet from normal level now. On thursday after noon we had 70 degree water temperature in the coves and 65 degrees on the main lake. Largemouth bass are still in shallow grass spawning or pre-spawn. Weightless plastics were still the best bait this week with Yum dingers and Yum wooly bug creature baits in junebug getting the most bites. After this cold weekend it may move the spawners off of the bank waiting for warmer water temperature but it has been my experience if they are far enough along in the spawning process they will not leave and will finish spawning. We have caught some fish this week on jigs and carolina rigs in 6ft. to 10ft. This deeper water may be the best bet for this coming week after the freezing nights.

White bass fishing is very good and the cold spell will not have an adverse affect on these fish. Friday morning with the cold north wind blowing Bill and Ryan braved the weather for a sandbass trip and caught their limits in a little over an hour from the one and only spot we could go to in the wind we had. Still catching all sand bass on 3/4 oz. chrome color Cotton Cordell CC spoons with a Flies-BY-Night jig tied about a foot above the spoon. Best nite has been 28ft. to 32ft. on humps, points, roads, and ridges from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island on the east arm of Lake Ray Roberts.

Happy Easter

Tim
