LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT

Lake level is 627. 54 now which is down 5 feet from normal level at Lake Ray Roberts. Water temperature is mid 60's on the main lake and 70's in the creeks and coves. Largemouth bass fishing is good right now with fish in all phases of the spawn depending on what area you are in. Most fish are post spawn and the bite has been good this week. We have caught a few fish in 8 to 10 that are headed for the deep water where they will spend the summer, but most fish are being caught in 3 to 6 feet deep. May is a great time to be on the lake and you can catch them on whatever you want to throw. we have caught fish this week on Booyah chart and white spinner baits, Booyah chart buzz baits, Cordell super spot yellow shad color, Rebel Pop'R in baby bass color and the best bait this week has been 4" Yum dinger june bug color on a light weight carolina rig. Most fish we are catching are in the slot and are coming from grass mixed with wood. I did catch a spawned out 9lb. 2oz. that was over the slot this week. White bass fishing is very good now and we caught them this week from 2 to 35 feet and everywhere in between. Have caught them on main lake structure and schooling under birds in Johnson Branch, north of Wolf Island in the hayfield and at the mouth of Indian Creek. When they are schooling you only see a few hit the top but there is usually a bunch all around where you see one or two hit the surface. You can catch them on about whatever you want to throw when they are schooling best bait for us this week was Cotton Cordell CC spoon 3/4 oz. chrome color with a Flies-By-Night chartreuse jig tied about a foot above the spoon. This bait will work jiggin in deep water and when they start schooling you can cast to them a reel it just like a crank bait to catch them. Its a great time to get a limit of sand bass for a fish fry and do some bass fishing all in the same day. Call or email me too book a trip or get up to date info on Lake Ray Roberts fishing.

Good luck with your fishing,

Tim
