Aluminum boat floor question

I'm getting ready to put a new floor in my aluminum boat. I've decided on using vinyl for it's ease of cleanup after saltwater fishing and duck hunting. As far as the plywood underdecking goes, is there anything that holds up to saltwater better than standard treated plywood?

The first boat I ever owned was a 1966 Mirror Craft. I gutted the boat and used plywood for the casting platforms and deck. Before installing, I applied a liberal amount of "Wood Life" and I never had a problem with any of the wood.

Thanks for the reply. I've never heard of Wood Life, but I did find it on the net.
Did you use regular untreated plywood and then used the preserver or did you apply it to treated wood? Did you then apply carpet or other flooring?

Keep in mind, I did this 25 years ago...

I used regular untreated plywood and soaked it with wood life. I don't even think treated plywood was available back then. The other support lumber was treated. On top of the plywood I glued an outdoor carpeting. I used that boat for almost 3 years without any problems. Good luck on your project.

Thanks Rudy. Appreciate the help.

Does anyone else have wood floors in an aluminum boat that fishes saltwater?
