Pogie pod reds

Postby Captain Bob Cosby » Tue Nov 15, 2005 10:08 pm

Could not find any "pods" this morning off Hanna Park/Mayport. Did not search further south. Water was 68 degrees. There was very strong tidal current due to full moon tomorrow and large standing waves across the mouth of the inlet. In the afternoon found pogies on the surface in 40+ feet of water north of north jetty tip. My charter ended up catching eight big ones to 42''. Seas were fairly rough with large swell. I think when the pogies surface in that depth of water, the big reds are working on them from underneath forcing them up. Any type of bait size "fish" will do, dead or alive, cut or whole. Catch them while you can because they're due to move offshore soon!

good fishing!
